Sometimes it’s not about how one looks… it’s about how one feels.

Photogenic — an adjective used to describe how something, or someone, looks in a photograph.

Beauty is subjective. For every “You look great today”, there will always be a “I don’t see the point” in the distance. To an individual, how one carries themselves is everything. Which brings me to this individual.

On a cloudy day, I approached this individual casually and offered to do some photography because I admired the casual, yet semi-formal look he had going on. Of course, a conversation occurred — to which he describes himself as someone who doesn’t even take pictures on his phone… because he views himself to not be “photogenic”. In the end, he obliges, and a photoshoot immediately commences. We talk more during the photoshoot, making him feel more confident as I instruct him how one can become more appealing to the viewing eye. Showing him the pictures I took below, he understood my perspective, took down my contacts for the photos, and we still keep in touch to this day.

All it took was one positive moment to turn a day as cloudy as then to being the one the sun should shine down upon. As someone who finds beauty in everything, I brought out that photogenic feeling within him… as his has more confidence than he lets himself believe.
